Put your unique combination of organizational and event management talents to work as PTDA’s Director, Networking and Events.
The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) is a trade organization whose members keep industry in motion by making and selling machinery components—gears, belts, bearings, motors, chains and 12 other product categories. Our mission is to advance our members’ industry and empower our members to be successful, profitable and competitive in a changing market environment.
In this essential position, you’ll have primary oversight for the events that bring PTDA’s members together to lead the Association, to discuss crucial industry issues and to work together in serving their mutual customers. With three to five in-person meetings a year, ranging in size from 10-500+, you’ll be the critical link between the volunteers guiding the program content, the staff team delivering marketing and registration support and the vendors providing the logistics needed for a successful event.
More than a meeting planner, you’ll also be a resource for our Networking/Community Committee, working with volunteers in guiding the development and execution of PTDA’s programs and services related to bringing individuals in the industry together at in-person and virtual events.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Support our Networking/Community Committee in their efforts to provide PTDA members with access to relevant and targeted networks and communities such as the Women in the Industry and the Family-Owned Business communities.
From board meetings to the PTDA Industry Summit (considered the most valuable benefit of belonging to PTDA), you’ll be involved from conception to completion in planning, promoting, executing and evaluating our in-person events.
Develop, promote and support opportunities for our members to build awareness of their brands within the industry through sponsorships and advertising.
What You’ll Need:
The ideal candidate will have that rare blend of event, project and volunteer management talents along with a bit of sales expertise thrown in. Knowledge will be demonstrated by a bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications or management and/or experience in association meeting and volunteer management. Strong organizational and project management skills as well as superior communication and negotiation skills are essential. You’ll serve as both a team leader and a team member, so you must be able to work independently and collaboratively, jumping from task to task as priorities arise and shift. From a technology perspective, we’re looking for someone with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
