The Director of Infrastructure reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). In coordination with the CIO, this role is responsible for creating the strategic vision for the team, aligning business needs with technology strategies, streamlining processes, maintaining efficient and high-quality operations, and for IT budget management. The Director of Infrastructure coordinates, implements, maintains and continually improves IT business operations for the association. She/He ensures effective working relationships with vendors, makes certain contracts are kept up to date and cost maintenance strategies are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis. This position collaborates with all departments to ensure that technical staff resources are properly aligned to ensure goals and objectives are met on schedule. The Director of Infrastructure provides leadership and guidance to the IT team and ensures the team is working effectively, adhering to best practices, and providing world class support to the staff and members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifies and implements innovative business technology solutions to support the work of the association
Works closely with the CIO to develop and execute the technology roadmap consistent with the strategic goals of the association
Leads evaluation, design, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of all enterprise infrastructure
Leads and motivates a team of information technology professionals in support of the association’s mission, including professional development and mentorship of all team members.
Evaluates technical solutions, prepares Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and negotiates contracts to ensure best price and protection of association assets
Ensures Helpdesk provides world class support and services to the APA staff and members.
Develop and implement IT policies and best practices for the association
Ensures proper logging and monitoring of the performance of enterprise infrastructure
Participates in the establishment of policies, standards, procedures and security processes to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the association’s assets
Develops and controls the IT operating and capital expense budget and ensures costs remain within budget guidance
Ensures 99.9% uptime for all technology in use by association staff, external vendors and members
Conducts ongoing evaluations of all technology solutions to ensure goals are met in a timely and efficient manner
Provides high level technical troubleshooting of enterprise applications and resolution of issues
Works within and across teams to increase process automation wherever possible
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of experience in information technology
Extensive experience with information technology systems
6+ years’ experience with local area network design, support and management
Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large scale projects.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IT strategies and operational plans.
Ability to develop and manage IT budget.
Must be a team player.
Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team
Strong management and people skills with the ability to hold people accountable.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across the association.
Must have strong decision-making skills

The market-based salary range for this position is $107,659-$134,357. When determining pay APA considers internal equity, an applicant’s specific skills, years of experience, and other job-related factors. APA staff may also be eligible in performance-based bonuses and benefit package.
