Position Summary
As the Manager, Scientific Programs for the Foundation, you will oversee the Foundation’s grant, scholarship, and fellowship program. You will work collaboratively with staff and advise leadership on all aspects of grants management from concept through final award reporting. You will lead efforts to: 1) Utilize data to effectively share our impact with stakeholders and donors. 2) Develop and transform opportunities to expand awareness of grants, scholarships, and fellowships, increasing applications and helping to secure additional funding. 3) Implement strategies to make steady progress toward achieving the board’s strategic plan related to the scientific program. 4) Other assignments and tasks to foster the continued success of the Foundation.
As the Foundation’s Manager, Scientific Programs you’ll be responsible for:
Leading overallmanagement of the Foundation’s scientific program, effectively addressing short- and longer-term priorities, with a focus on impact.
Working closely with the Foundation’s program committee chairs to develop agendas, track committee / staff tasks, and facilitate meetings.
Managing contract and negotiations with Institution/University grant program offices.
Overseeing grantee reporting process, ensuring accountability, and making recommendations to the CEO on no-cost extensions.
Collaborating with association staff to expand awareness of research funding and the impact on its members.
Creating opportunities for funded researcher to engage with each other.
Reimagining the Foundation’s research presence at conferences and in-person meetings to share findings and impact of research funded while striving to help build a community of investigators and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field required; PhD a plus.
5 years’ experience in related professional level position.
Previous experience with independent research, grant writing, scientific or peer review.
Budget management skills.
Strong presentation and professional writing skills.
Supervisory experience – the ability to successfully manage, motivate, and develop team members.
Strong interpersonal skills; collegial, with the ability to develop productive relationships.
Demonstrated critical thinking, professional accountability, good judgment.
Excellent project, process, and time management skills.
