Your Role
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to develop and implement people strategies that support the mission of the organization and its management philosophy. This position works closely with the Senior Director of Talent & Happiness to ensure that HR programs and services support and drive business objectives. Position provides generalist support to various departments within the organization and develops and executes the implementation and maintenance of programs/processes that build organizational capability to meet business needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Employee Relations – 40%
Work to ensure the promotion of Families’ HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paperwork form.
Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics, i.e. leave management, disability leave requests, etc.
Manage employee onboarding process and help organize training & development initiatives.
Work with supervisors and employees on employee relations matters to foster a positive and productive working environment.
Benefits Administration – 30%
Coordinate open enrollments, changes and training for employee benefit programs.
Ensure compliance with legal and ERISA requirements.
Develop employee communication programs using various media to keep employees informed about company benefit plans and changes.
Work with the Senior Accounting Manager to assist with the reconciliation of the organization’s bi-weekly payroll.
Recruitment – 30%
Responsible for all facets of talent acquisition and recruitment processes.
Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Conducts Background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Administer new employee onboarding and orientation.
Lead and maintain the Internship Program.
Your Experience
Undergraduate degree from accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required. Must have at least 3-5 years of solid HR generalist practical experience preferably in a non-profit environment. Experience working with various HRIS systems. PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
Your Qualifications
To perform successfully in this role, applicant should possess the specific knowledge, skills and abilities outlined below:
Demonstrated experience as an HR generalist.
Knowledge of principles and procedures relating to HR functional areas (e.g., recruitment/selection, compensation and benefits, employee relations and HRIS systems).
Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment-related laws and regulations and compliance procedures as they are related to employment practices.
Knowledge of payroll and recruitment software.
Strong oral, writing, and organizational skills.
Sound judgment, critical thinking, problem solving and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal, presentation and networking skills.
Capacity to handle multiple competing priorities – including ability to be agile and work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) and project management software.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn Families USA’s HRIS Systems.
Strong customer-service orientation.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively.
Ability to work independently and in close coordination with teams with very minimal supervision.

Our salary range for this role is $68K - $75K and will be commensurate with experience.
