WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
In this newly created position, we are seeking a Manager of Communications and Advocacy who will be charged with the implementation of CMAA’s overall communications strategy and management of our online government relations tracking system. A key priority in this role will be to oversee the Association's digital communications and enhance these offerings and their effectiveness.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, this cross-functional role is in the Member Engagement team, and supports the activities of the Professional Development and Executive Office teams. This position plays an integral role in creating and delivering communications content while also maintaining the Association’s government relations system and supporting day-to-day government-relations activities.
The successful candidate will: Manage CMAA's social media and email communications projects
Assist in the successful launch of two new communications programs (including the CMAA Podcast)
Utilize the advocacy platform in full support of the Executive Office team.
Help build strong brand awareness, increase engagement, and deepen support amongst members and stakeholders
Utilize metrics, data, and web analytics to drive strategy with the goal of improving user experience and engagement. Manage timelines and production schedules for digital collateral and other outputs from CMAA, including emails, infographics, data visualizations, and other deliverables.
Qualifications:
Possess a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, strategic communications, or public affairs; or combination of post-secondary education and professional experience
Have 1-3 years’ experience in digital communications/marketing and social media for professional society or trade association,
Additional experience in legislative affairs, government relations or public affairs for professional society or trade association, strongly preferred
Ability to organize resources and establish and monitor priorities
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Quorum and government relations information systems a plus
This position is full-time and remote during standard hours (EST) and requires limited travel (up to 10%). Candidates can reside anywhere in the US with a preference for location in the DC Metro Area.
