Communications Assistant is primarily responsible for performing communication activities for the Association. This position will support the Marketing and Communications Manager in writing, editing, and producing print and electronic publications, properties, presence, and materials. Ultimately, this position will help ensure clear, concise, and consistent communication of Atla’s message across all channels. This position also provides timely, professional, and accurate service to the entirety of the Atla community.
Duties & Responsibilities
Contributes to and edits content for Atla properties and publications, including the newsletter, websites, and social media.
Proofs copy for digital content and print collateral.
Designs artwork using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Writes and proofs for email campaigns and press releases according to marketing schedule.
Coordinates, develops processes, and supports communication and execution of professional development opportunities for members, including webinars, workshops, and presentations online and/or in-person; collaborative projects; and other membership-related campaigns.
Maintains and updates Association Calendar and Events & Communications Calendar.
Follows and maintains Atla Style Guide.
Supports and executes social media strategies and email campaigns.
Works closely with the Member Programs team, other internal staff, and consultants to enhance and improve member and prospect interactions both in-person and online such as through websites, online portal, online community site, and communication vehicles (email, newsletter, social media).
Utilizes the AMS to respond to lookup, reference, and maintain member data and interactions; distribute communications; and pull reports.
Creates and regularly updates Standard Operating Procedures for Member Programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer skills required: Microsoft Office software suite or equivalent, Association Management (AMS) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Zoom or equivalent, Adobe Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), WordPress
Other skills required:
Strong writing, proofreading, and organization/project management skills.
Experience implementing communications, public relations, or marketing plans.
Basic understanding of standard print and digital publishing practices and procedures.
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with internal and external contacts.
Excellent oral and written communication skills along with an approachable demeanor.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative environment.
Experience in Chicago Manual of Style.
Experience working with libraries, cultural heritage organizations, or affiliated educational, nonprofit, or professional organizations.
Evidence of potential to succeed in a rapidly changing environment.
Experience in Google AdWords, SEO.
Full time remote, work from home, position (37.5 hour work week)
US time zones and locations only
Typical working hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday
