Role Summary:
Housing First Minnesota seeks a dynamic, strategic, and influential Membership Development Director (MDD) to lead and manage our membership program. The MDD will have primary responsibility for the creation, development and implementation of the membership retention, engagement, and recruitment plan.
Our Membership Development Director will be an exceptional communicator. They will also possess strong strategic instincts and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in support of HFMN’s mission and vision.
The MDD is also responsible for retention strategies and onboarding members. The MDD works collaboratively across the organization and with various stakeholder groups to identify, build and promote member value that has broad appeal to housing industry members throughout Minnesota.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for the creation, development, and execution of an annual comprehensive membership strategy, including all aspects of the membership experience, membership recruitment, and engagement.
- Assist the creation and development of a modernized membership program that seeks innovative ways to connect all industry segments to HFMN.
- Engage and network with key industry segments and stakeholders to cultivate relationships and create strategies in support of the comprehensive plan.
- Develop strong relationships with volunteers, members, and industry thought leaders in support of the membership plan.
- Research, analyze, and apply information about members, customers, competition, and external influencers to leverage opportunities and evolve programs, products, and services.
- Forecast membership growth potential and create strategies to target specific industry segments. Maintain program relevance by sourcing and reviewing data on member and customer needs.
- Distribute monthly membership dashboards reflecting overall composition and specific trends.
Other Performance Dimensions
- Actively contribute in the budgeting process.
- Partner with internal team and external consultants to ensure data integrity processes and procedures are in place; identify areas where new processes are required and recommends system changes as needed.
- Collaborate with communications, events, and marketing staff, as well as external consultants to execute membership recruitment, engagement, and retention tactics.
- Develop membership materials and other collateral.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a similar leadership role
- Certified Association Executive (CAE) a plus
- Proven ability to interact and build strong and credible relationships at all levels
- Demonstrated experience working with Association Management Systems and Customer Relations Management Systems
- Ability to deliver projects on-time and within budget working within established parameters using judgment and experience to execute
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data to understand current membership needs to predict future membership opportunities
- Highly driven and results oriented, with strong management skills, and ability to set and enforce priorities and deadlines
- Strong track record as an implementer who thrives on leading a variety of key initiatives concurrently, working independently to get the job done
- Demonstrated experience initiating, managing, delivering, and evaluating membership focused projects, programs, and services
- Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills
