The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) is currently searching for a Manager of Strategic Partnerships. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, growing, and sustaining relationships with corporate partners in support of NHPCO’s mission, programs, and services. You will also have an opportunity to unify NHPCO’s corporate engagement portfolio, including partnerships, sponsorships, support opportunities and conference exhibitions. As a key member of the Education and Events team, you will be responsible for revenue generation through the sale and fulfillment of strategic partnerships, sponsorships, support opportunities and exhibits, to include the support and account management of existing partnerships. This is a great opportunity to work across teams to build the corporate partner infrastructure and long-term business strategies for NHPCO.
Reporting to the Vice President, Education and Events, this position located at NHPCO’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
- Serves as main contact for all partners, sponsors and exhibiting companies.
- Focuses on uniting NHPCO engagement opportunities and connecting partners and opportunities.
- Manages the full partnership cycle for current and prospective accounts. This includes generating leads, coordinating, and leading introductory meetings, assessing stakeholder needs and goals, preparing proposals, executing agreements, and overseeing benefit fulfillment.
- Oversees strategic partnership, supporter, sponsorship, and exhibition content on the NHPCO website and reviews conference platform for corporate partner information.
- Manages exhibition and online buying guide sales management partner ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
- Establishes annual revenue goals with clear deliverables and milestones for success.
- Works collaboratively across the organization to identify and create partnership opportunities that will support member engagement and deliver value to members.
- Stays current with the NHPCO programs, activities, and the hospice and palliative care landscape to identify prospective industry partners to engage with.
- Proactively gathers information, seek opinions, analyze all possibilities to create effective solutions and opportunities.
- Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure consistent engagement with strategic partners social media platforms.
- Structures and solicits corporate partnerships and sponsorships through a diversified outreach strategy which includes identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Leads the development of an Association partnership prospectus from the development of copy to graphic design.
- Creates a recruitment plan and timeline.
- Manages prospect lists, including tracking outreach and scheduling follow-up; always having a top prospect list readily available.
- Researches and leads outreach to prospective contacts; prepares for conversations and meetings with potential partners/sponsors/supporters by creating written materials for organization leadership, as needed.
- Drafts sponsorship and partnership agreements, including articulation of benefits, payment details, standard terms and facilitate signature collection.
- Oversees invoicing and collections process including invoice creation, communication with partner/sponsor/etc., and internal tracking.
- Ensures consistency and parity among partner relationships.
- Proactively develops and maintains relationships with industry partners, including scheduling regular touch points, distributing updates, and serving as a point of contact to expand engagement and revenue.
- Creates an onboarding process and retention plan and timeline.
- Creates and manages tracking system to monitor partner contract terms and oversee the fulfillment of all benefits, deliverables and obligations including internal and external stakeholders.
- Creates annual engagement reports including data aggregation, visibility, and reach to articulate the partnership value.
- Manages external exhibit sales vendor (tracking sales, show schedule, floor plan development, follow-up etc.).
- Leads the development of exhibit/support prospectus for association conferences (from copy to graphic design).
- Oversees the development of exhibitor registration process.
- Reviews all exhibit space and supporter contracts, overseeing the fulfillment of supporter deliverables.
- Ensures consistent communication to exhibitors/supporters, writing/editing copy for e-blasts and mailings, as needed.
- Leads post-event debriefs and evaluations and provides feedback to partners regarding the call for proposal process.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred with a minimum of five (5) years business development, corporate partners relationship/account management, strategic planning, sales, customer service experience or combination of education and experience.
- Ability to utilize technology to maximum efficiency, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Planner); experience with NetForum and E-show, or other association and conference management software is preferred.
- Experience cultivating relationships leading to partnerships and/or sales; particularly the ability to effectively connect with, build rapport and persuade individuals and groups both virtually and in-person.
- Ability to understand or learn hospice, palliative care, or healthcare.
- Ability to understand the interests of corporate prospects and how to connect them to NHPCO’s priorities while developing deep and long-lasting relationships.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-orientated environment as well as possess the self-motivation necessary to work independently.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER:
This position is classified as a full-time, exempt salaried position with a starting base salary at $76,800 - $87,000 annually (commensurate with related experience) plus an opportunity to earn annual merit increases based on annual performance goals, as well as the potential (but not guaranteed) performance bonuses.
