We are seeking an Associate Director, Learning Design to architect, implement, and manage the content strategy and instructional design techniques for the Society’s digital learning programs and products. Our ideal candidate is enterprising and innovative, utilizing data-driven instruments such as needs assessments/gap analyses, as well as adult learning principles, to guide current and future educational products through the lens of member and industry needs and advancements. With a strong focus on instructional design and content needs, you will have the opportunity to provide programmatic management and support, project planning, and educational design input to ensure that our product pipeline not only is congruent with relevant learner needs and complies with the accreditation standards, but also integrates accreditation activity criteria during course design.
What you’ll bring to the job:
- BA/BS degree with a minimum of 5 years prior experience in portfolio blueprinting and instructional design for both in-person and virtual activities, ideally for member-based organizations is required.
- Intermediate-advanced knowledge of course authoring tools such as Articulate 360.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and professional presence.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required to work with a diverse group of stakeholders (staff, committee members, learners, collaborators, etc.).
- Highly skilled in fostering a team culture by showing concern for each team member, recognizing their contributions and thoroughly enjoys energizing and motivating others toward a goal.
- Proficient in content strategy and data-driven program design.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
- Be highly motivated, results-oriented, and able to prioritize team efforts to use limited resources efficiently.
- Ability to travel several times a year and work weekends or after-hours, on occasion.
- Appropriate technical skills required for proficiency in the use of technology (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, database management, etc.) and able to learn new technology as required.
- Consensus-building and collaboration skills, including ability to seek out the facts and pertinent information before drawing conclusions and listening and responding to people with sensitivity and directness.

What you’ll own:
Leads, manages, and supports the content planning process for the digital learning portfolio:
- Identify new program opportunities through learner performance data, needs assessment processes, member group discussions, and other qualitative/quantitative collection tools
- Collaborate with staff across the organization on design and management of new educational activities
- Manage a data-driven methodology/process in which programs are slated for the ensuing year, and outlined and calendarized in a blueprint that can be socialized throughout the organization
- Serve as a secondary contact for the Special Programs Committee regarding development and maintenance of funded activities
Serves as the primary instructional designer for new digital learning products:
- Assess, recommend, and implement new approaches to learning design to diversify the Society’s education portfolio
- Ensure the Society keeps pace with contemporary learning design practices and complementary formats/modalities preferred by current/prospective learners
- Collaborate with the Director of Digital Learning and Development and Strategic Partnerships staff on program development to ensure novel design approaches.
Coach and supervise two Managers of Program Development and the Manager of Practice Resources:
- Ensure program conceptualization and development for funded activities incorporates innovative design thinking
- Guide the Manager of Practice Resources through the development of new and derivative products for the clinical and scientific community

Actively promote positive relationships with the membership and other groups (committees, leadership, stakeholders, etc.). Exhibit high level of customer service and identify ways to improve service procedures/levels within own position. Respond and follow-through on internal and external requests.

This position is located in Washington, DC and walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment.
