We are actively seeking a Membership Services Manager to be responsible for developing and executing an integrated plan with the goal of recruiting, engaging, serving, and retaining members of AAFS. The ideal person will have an eye towards strategic, engaged growth. Expansion of new members with a plan rooted in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is highly valued.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Member Services Manager works closely with the Board-led Membership Committee. The Manager also works in close collaboration with colleagues in Marketing, Meetings and Educational Programs to ensure that communications and services are consistent, effective, and engaging to all audiences.
This position requires independent, critical and strategic thinking, good judgment, outstanding organization, planning, and project management skills, and a high level of professionalism, accuracy, sensitivity, persistence, discretion, and diplomacy.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement ongoing member recruitment, engagement, and retention plans for AAFS, based on the member value proposition and highlighting member benefits.
Working with Educational Programs, develop strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement as a means of membership renewal, with focus on engagement and involvement of new members.
Serve as primary staff liaison to Membership Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Board of Directors participating in strategy development, planning and implementation required for success.
Review, process and monitor applications for membership, promotion, or change in status.
Lead the member recruitment process, including sourcing and prospect identification, recruitment, and onboarding. Build and maintain in-depth rapport and relationships with prospects to identify, cultivate, and bring in top-quality members who are aligned with AAFS’s mission.
Provide leadership for all aspects of daily operations to include prospect and membership data entry, integrity, accuracy, and reporting.
Collect and report on membership demographics and provide relevant statistics to monitor progress against goals.
Direct competitive intelligence gathering and analysis on key competitors, potential partners, and other factors that may impact AAFS’s members. Use findings to inform and recommend program development/change decisions.
Work with designated committees on the ongoing development of the website and implementation of other marketing tools needed for prospective member information and engagement.
Hire, train, and develop interns and shared resources.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing (preferred.)
A minimum of five–eight years of relevant work experience required.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technology platforms.
