This is a critical time for policing and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is at the forefront, working to engage communities and promote leading policing practices. The IACP is dedicated to enhancing the policing profession through new initiatives, advocacy, and member services that bring innovation, promising practices, and training to the field. The IACP seeks to hire a Project Manager to broadly support IACP efforts, and specifically support IACP member engagement activities. This position provides operational management to internal membership divisions, sections, and committees. The position provides innovative/creative solutions to problems, participates in decision making activities, interfaces with IACP leadership, external partners, and IACP members.

Project Manager – Professional Development & Engagement 

Job Responsibilities: 

Working with IACP staff and stakeholders, the Project Manager(s) will:

• Develop, evaluate, revise, and update project materials such as magazine content, online resources, guidebooks, educational handouts, timelines, membership / attendee acquisition pieces and fliers

• Serve as liaison to three internal membership divisions (Division of State & Provincial Police, Division of State Associations of Chiefs of Police, and Midsize Agencies Division), sections, and committees
• Working with membership groups and senior leadership, identify operational and policy priorities for use Association-wide
• Track multiple projects and provide status update reports as needed
• Develop and implement creative and effective business practices
• Analyze and interpret data to determine gaps and opportunities regarding internal membership groups and programmatic efforts

• Connect with division, section, and committee leadership as well as others in the field; build and manage these partnerships

• Serve as online community manager to include staying abreast of trends, developing reports, and engaging with members.
• Coordinate with legislative and communications managers, magazine managing editor, and other programmatic staff.

• Manage, lead, and grow staff members
• Build and sustain relationships with police leaders to enhance project work and understanding of the profession whom we serve
• Manage budget creation and development and support budget tracking and invoicing in accordance with IACP guidelines
• Organize and track details of project-related meetings and events including expenditures, logistics, and programmatic information
• Maintain ongoing and effective communication with project team, staff members, partners, and funding agencies
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Minimum of three years of job-related experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other relevant business software
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

• Solid task prioritization, organization, and time management skills, and attention to detail
• Demonstrated skill in managing staff and projects
• Ability to create and manage a budget, accounting for and preserving project resources

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with and understanding of policing
• Experience in a non-profit organization, association, or criminal justice environment

 Special Conditions and Work Environment:

• Some travel may be required based on position responsibilities. 

• Work takes place primarily in an office environment
• Light lifting, bending, and reaching may be required
