The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) is searching for an experienced marketing and communications professional who will serve in a key leadership role, responsible for planning, developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies. This is an expanded position for the organization and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated marketing professional to create a robust, fully integrated, data driven program.
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with our team, you’ll help address the challenges of today’s volatile and dynamic environment for our members, for ISHLT and for associations in general.
You must have outstanding organizational skills, the ability to perform independently and as part of a small, high-performing team, supervisory experience and proven success managing volunteer and vendor relationships.
You must be passionate about communicating our story externally and to our membership - to drive new members to the organization, to stimulate member engagement, and to ensure we’re communicating our value clearly.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, Management, Measurement
Develop an integrated communications and marketing strategy to promote the organization’s objectives and activities, with an annual activity plan. Manage and execute the strategy, measure results.
Responsibility for programs including but not limited to the ISHLT website; ISHLT’s newsletter; social media strategy; live and virtual event promotion
Identify and recommend audiences for all communications. Tailor messages.
Work collaboratively with staff to ensure a unified message to the marketplace; coordinate messages to various audiences, ensuring appropriate cadence and frequency
Identify, budget and manage required resources to achieve goals.
Monitor and track marketing efforts for performance and adjust as necessary. Use a data-based decision-making approach.
Create a marketing and communications plan for each ISHLT event, including budgets, goals, activities and timelines for each
Marketing and Communications
Execute strategy and plans
Develop, write and edit content
Manage consultants/vendors, including designers, website vendors, etc.
Develop and support branding strategy
Ensure universal quality communications; edit and proofread writing of other team members as needed
Execute Social Media strategy
Prepare and support leaders and members to engage on social media on behalf of ISHLT
Improve the Society’s media outreach and amplify ISHLT values and messages
Create and distribute media releases as appropriate
Plan and manage media activities around the annual meeting
Serve as staff liaison and manager of a portfolio of related committees and task forces.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in marketing and communications required, with a strong preference for association and healthcare-related fields.

Additional Work Requirements:
Ability to travel up to four (4) times per year.
