The Manager of Development and Fundraising will report to the CEO and is responsible for the development and management of SAF’s fundraising campaigns, advertising sales, sponsorships, exhibitors, affinity programs and respective business relationships. They will determine opportunities, develop annual budgets, and implement strategies for SAF’s non-dues revenue. Through non-dues revenue and member value, they are a key contributor to SAF’s success.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced association or university development and fundraising leader with strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills. They will have a proven record of success in designing and implementing campaigns and increasing advertising sales revenue. They will have strong networking skills and the ability to translate organizational outputs into ROI for current and prospective business partners. Will take initiative in cultivating new non-dues revenue opportunities to advance SAF’s goals. Responsibilities include:
3+ years of overall related professional experience
Specific successful experience leading major fundraising campaigns = Highly skilled at developing personal and business relationships that result in financial commitments to the organization
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations or related field
Experience with a database or Content Management Systems (Salesforce, iMIS…)
Comfortable guiding company strategy in event planning, donor relations and financial operations
Expert-level knowledge of fundraising best practices across multiple audiences
Strong attention to detail, highly organized with excellent multi-tasking skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to travel out of the DMV metro area (less than 10%) to events and conferences
Master’s degree a plus
Experience with iMIS content management system a plus
Knowledge and passion for forests and natural resources a plus
Additional Salary Information: We are targeting a base salary in the $60k range and will participate in a bonus compensation program. Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, short and long-term disability, and 401(K). Telecommuting, up to 2 days/wk., is allowed following 90 days of employment.
