DEPARTMENT SUMMARY The Americans for the Arts Action Fund (Arts Action Fund) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit affiliate of Americans for the Arts. The Arts Action Fund is arts advocacy organization of 400,000 individual members, with a goal of recruiting and mobilizing at least one million citizen activists to become members and advocate for the adoption of arts-friendly public policies to be adopted at the federal, state, and local levels. POSITION SUMMARY The Arts Action Fund Program Manager executes all aspects of Arts Action Fund programming including membership acquisition and retention high- and low-dollar fundraising, its political action committee (PAC) management, political and educational initiatives, fundraising special events and PAC fundraising campaigns, and content writing for its publications and website. The Manager will also assist the Executive Director of the Arts Action Fund (E.D.) in preparing for meetings with the Arts Action Fund’s board of directors. The Arts Action Fund Program Manager will actively participate in internal working groups to execute the member recruitment fundraising, communications, marketing, and advocacy objectives of the Americans for the Arts Action Fund. The Arts Action Fund Program Manager reports to the E.D. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - The Arts Action Fund Manager will execute all of the day-to-day marketing and production activities of the Arts Action Fund’s membership recruitment and retention program in order to reach our goal of one million members.
- Manage all aspects of membership renewals, fulfillment, list pulls, marketing
- Develop membership recruitment campaigns and materials
- Identify and carryout opportunities for speakers to promote Arts Action Fund memberships in their speeches
- Recruit and foster membership partners at the national, state, and local levels, which include securing annual member lists from partners.
- Ensure successful execution of membership recruitment events by coordinating invite lists, checklists, and shipping of supplies to local hosts
- Travel to Partners’ conferences for membership recruitment and fundraising events
- Set up membership booths and events at partner conferences
- Develop working relationships with high end donors and board members for future membership and fundraising events
- Manage the Year-End Campaign efforts, including content development with E.D.
- Recruit and keep Field Organizers engaged
- Carry-out grassroots advocacy campaigns through Voter Voice at the direction of the E.D.
- Manage the quarterly newsletter for content, timeliness, and mailing.
- Work with E.D. and designer to create SWAG/identity materials for Arts Action Fund branding and membership recruitment.
- Analyze membership and contribution statistics and generate reports
- The Arts Action Fund Manager will help raise funds for the Arts Action Fund PAC through direct mail and electronic appeals, one-on-one phone banking, and traveling to meet with donors and special events throughout the country. The goal is to raise $250,000 every election cycle.
- Complete FEC filings in a timely manner and reconcile bank financials for the Arts Action Fund PAC with the FEC Report
- Complete FEC filings for a second PAC, the Arts and Humanities in America PAC, in a timely manner and reconcile bank financials for the Arts and Humanities in American PAC with the FEC report
- Ensure successful execution of PAC fundraising events by coordinating invite lists, checklists, and shipping of supplies to local hosts
- Assist E.D. in developing and distributing candidate surveys and Congressional Arts Report Cards
- Prepare materials for Arts Action Fund board meetings including the drafting of Arts Action Fund board bullet reports, board agendas, and minutes
- Develop and do follow-through for customized board giving plans/pledges
- Grow online and social media presence of the Arts Action Fund
- Write, manage, and upload web content, web design
- Check website daily for problems, opportunities, links, updates, etc.
- Keep Arts Action Fund social media channels fresh and up-to-date
- The Arts Action Fund Manager will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the Arts Action Fund.
- Recruit and manage the Arts Action Fund contractors and interns
- Maintain up-to-date department manual for all operations of the Arts Action Fund
- Serve as liaison to all vendors (Linemark, ROI, Salesforce, DMP, Blue State, VoterVoice, PACBuilder)
QUALIFICATIONS - A positive attitude and an earnest interest in providing quality customer service to our members, stakeholders, and partners
- Ability to maintain healthy interpersonal relationships
- Ability to manage people and projects to attain our goals within budget and on time
- Strong working knowledge of Salesforce and/or CRMs.
- Experience with Pardot, FormAssembly and Drupal preferred.
- Ability to negotiate contracts with vendors and manage outsourced work
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- At least five-to-seven years of experience in membership, development, marketing, management, database, and political fundraising
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience and high comfort level in working with donors
- Proficiency in various computer design programs helpful, such as Creative Cloud.
- Strong interest in political and electoral issues
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
- Strong Personal Computer (PC) skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet research experience, a basic knowledge of any Content Management System (CMS) and basic PC troubleshooting
WORKING CONDITIONS - This position works 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday around core business hours (10:00 am – 4:00 pm ET)
