The Senior Director is responsible for implementation of ISPE’s strategic business plan related to the following areas:
Membership development at the international and local levels including driving global membership growth, developing and executing the programs, practices and processes that support the generation of approximately 30% of the Society’s revenue
ISPE Member Services Center which processes all dues, publication and conference/event payments, maintains the ISPE database and ensures data integrity, runs on-site conference registration and provides front-line customer service to Members and nonmembers
ISPE’s global Affiliates and Chapters, including management of Affiliate/Chapter relationships, compliance with charters and ISPE policies, governance of the components
Committees/Councils, including ISPE’s Affiliate Councils that provide geographic cross-communication between the regional Affiliates and Chapters and ISPE Membership Development Committee
ISPE’s Young Professional, Student Committees and their activities and Women in Pharma
Volunteer development including organizational programs and initiatives aimed at strategically recruiting, placing, training, developing and recognizing volunteers at all levels of organizational need
ISPE’s online job board, Career Solutions, including its marketing activities and liaison with the program vendor
Budget development and management for the Membership Department, Member Services Center, Affiliates/Chapters, job board and volunteers
Primary essential function
Meets annual goals as established in ISPE’s business plan and proposes strategic initiatives to grow ISPE’s membership - domestically & internationally
Develop and implement promotions and processes to increase ISPE’s retention
Evaluate ISPE’s current membership structure and propose new innovations that will help ISPE grow, such as the dues sharing program with Chapters and Affiliates, and a bulk membership approach to large pharmaceutical engineering, consulting and services firms.
Ensure creation of a current prospect database
In collaboration with the Vice President of Membership & MarCom, develop and implement a plan that leads to uniform, consistent and brand-enhancing delivery of ISPE’s core competencies — including membership and business development opportunities within ISPE’s Affiliates and Chapters.
Serve as liaison to the international Membership Development Committee
Works with ISPE staff leaders to develop processes for understanding Member needs and articulating a compelling value proposition
Manages the scheduling and logistics for membership-related participation in tradeshows as needed.
Develop and manage the Membership budget
Ensure creation of routine reporting/dashboards pertaining to membership
Member Services Center:
In conjunction with the Member Services Center manager, develops and implements processes, procedures and initiatives aimed at ensuring the highest quality experiences for Members, customers and other stakeholders
Manages resources and supervises staff to create a seamless experience throughout the membership cycle and in conjunction with all purchasing/registration activities
Ensures that ISPE’s IMIS database has the functionality to help create accurate and smooth processes for the Member Services processing and delivery
Interfaces effectively with all other ISPE departments to ensure the call center staff is properly informed and able to meet the needs of Members related to events, products and services
Develop and manage the Member Services budget
Affiliates and Chapters:
Working with the Affiliate/Chapter Manager, supports Affiliate/Chapters in developing capacity to operate self-sufficiently in alignment with ISPE’s established charters, policies, and procedures
Represents ISPE policy positions, philosophy, programs and services to Affiliates/Chapters and provide counsel in operating in accordance with them
Manage the work and communications of the Affiliate Councils (NASAAC, EAC and APAC), and ensure business objectives are achieved and key relationships are leveraged
Coordinate with Affiliate/chapter leadership to develop and manage the Affiliates and Chapters budget and financial reporting to ISPE as needed
Develops volunteer training for ISPE Affiliate Council volunteers
Develops and works with key staff/volunteer groups to implement a volunteer development plan and organizational programs and initiatives aimed at strategically recruiting, placing, training, developing and recognizing volunteers at all levels of organizational need
Serves as primary staff liaison to the Young Professionals Committee and any other assigned volunteer group or task team
Online Job Board:
Liaisons with the job board vendor
Markets the job board to increase job postings and annual revenue
As space is available at Annual Meeting, conducts an on-site job fair
Education and work experience:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field. Master’s degree and/or CAE preferred
Seven years successfully managing membership, volunteer and component functions for a non-profit organization. Call center experience highly desirable
Seven years’ experience accomplishing organizational goals with and through volunteer leaders and components. EXPERIENCE WITH INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP HIGHLY DESIRABLE
Seven years’ experience supervising staff and working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Five years’ experience working with and advising on organization’s AMC database
Demonstrated success growing Association membership.
Skills and Knowledge:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Expertise with maintaining an AMS and ensuring data integrity preferred
Flexible; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated competency in areas of work relations, teamwork, communication, supervision of staff and volunteer development
Strong people skills in dealing with diverse audiences and cultures
Excellent verbal and written skills
Willingness and ability to travel
Demonstrates professional ethics and demeanor at all times
Experience with International organizations and multi-lingual skills preferred
