Job Summary: The Senior Content Strategist is responsible for researching, writing, prioritizing and publishing critical news and content designed to engage ASHP members across multiple channels and platforms. This position is responsible for highly strategic and collaborative initiatives with the ability to leverage strategic communications for member engagement and organizational growth.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Works in concert with the editorial, communications and marketing staff to develop and manage a global editorial calendar to govern ASHP’s multi-channel member communications strategy.
Ensures that content is engaging, strategic, shareable, and consistent with the organization’s voice, narrative, and strategic priorities.
Proactively mine ASHP’s rich content landscape, external news sources, and the organization’s plethora of subject matter experts in practice and public policy to identify topics, issues, news angles, and stories to feed the content pipeline and consistently deliver relevant and newsworthy information to members.
Manages publication of all ASHP member communications (print and digital) including regular production of daily, weekly, and monthly e-Newsletters and daily news production at ASHP meetings and events.
Writes original news and informational pieces as needed to support a robust calendar of proprietary content for member engagement.
Works in collaboration with the marketing and member relations teams to align content strategy with member engagement, recruitment and renewal efforts.
Works with the Executive Office, Government Relations Office and other stakeholders to disseminate priority updates and news to members and other key constituents on an as needed-basis.
Monitors and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for core member communications activities, providing insights and recommendations to enhance impact.
Oversees standards that promote continuity and consistency across the organization’s content and communications processes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, New Media, or related field required.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience writing and editing content to inform and engage stakeholders.
Association and healthcare experience strongly preferred.
Experienced outstanding writer, editor and creative thinker with an eye for timely, relevant content and a healthy respect for deadlines.
Proven ability to align organizational priorities to content decisions. Create and curate content and successfully adapt it by audience and channel to maximize relevance and impact.
Highly organized with a keen attention to detail. Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize overlapping assignments and multiple deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Highly collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation.
Prior experience in print and digital publishing.
Proficiency with marketing automation/email marketing platforms (HigherLogic, MagnetMail or similar) required.
Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to successfully manage vendors, budgets and large cross-functional stakeholder groups.
Telecommuting is allowed.
