As the Director of Education for the Security Industry Association (SIA), you will lead the SIA Education@ISC conference programs, Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) certification, key education and training, and career development initiatives. In this role, you will bring knowledge of the industry’s issues, emerging technologies, and trends to the forefront and create opportunities for security leaders and experts to advance professionally. Reporting directly to the CEO and supervising a team of 2, you will drive all education and certification program activity for SIA and through SIA’s partners, in support of the SIA membership and larger industry goals.
Your work will include staying up-to-date on the current trends in our industry and identifying education needs that are most beneficial to our members. We will also look to you to maintain and increase program participation, implement and expand existing content, and manage program instructors. You will plan, coordinate, and manage program logistics to ensure professional events are delivered seamlessly on time and within budget.

Department direction, management, and oversight
Strategically identify and design programs of value to members and/or their channel partners. Advise in the areas of education, knowledge, and professional development for the industry and the association.
Leverage the knowledge and expertise of industry and subject matter experts to determine industry-wide priorities for credentialing/certification, training and education, knowledge management, and career development.
Direct the selection and development of the technical infrastructure (learning management system) used to deliver SIA and other industry learning and training, career mapping, and the management of SIA certifications
Build and maintain relationships with industry subject matter experts in critical and emerging knowledge areas, leveraging these relationships for education and training development, certification development, knowledge management, and support of other education and career development priorities.
Build and maintain relationships with training development and delivery partners as the mechanism for the provision of SIA Education to training participants.
Align budget to organizational strategic priorities and direction, as defined by the board of directors. Develop and monitor education and certification-related revenue and expenses.
Build and maintain the capability for publications to support existing and new curriculum through study guides and white papers, and develop new capabilities as appropriate for SIA in emerging knowledge areas.
Continuously identify linkages and education-related applications of activities of all SIA departments. Leverage the capabilities and opportunities of the Education Department to support the plans and goals of other departments and SIA as a whole.
Collaborate with the Marketing Department in the promotion of education products and events by identifying key audiences and messages for the same.
Coach and manage department staff for the benefit of SIA, the Education Department, and individual professional goals.
Curriculum and conference program development
Direct SIA efforts in all education-related programming areas.
Lead content development for the SIA Education@ISC (International Security Conference & Exposition) vendor-neutral education program and work cooperatively with ISC Events and the ISC Education Advisory Board to deliver two conference programs annually.
Write and/or edit SIA Education@ISC session descriptions and assist SIA Marketing with developing and refining marketing messages and other materials.
Maintain and increase participation in instructor-led training and e-learning courseware for the benefit of SIA members and their channel partners.
Facilitate the work of the SIA education and certification committees charged with advancing SIA education priorities, including content development and delivery, revenue generation and growth, and program branding.
Develop and maintain a database containing the ratings of individual subject matter experts who have presented at the SIA Education@ISC conferences.
Along with certification staff, build and maintain end-to-end certification/credentialing programs as needed to support members through the member channel.
Set direction for marketing with internal and external marketing teams to generate awareness of certifications to build a certificant
Establish SIA as a recognized certifier in the industry, according to recognized certification/credentialing standards.
Security Systems Technology (SST) Associates Degree Program
Work with SMEs and others to expand a two-year community college degree program that is completing a pilot phase of development.
Lead the development of the curriculum framework for the SST initiative.
Identify and recruit SMEs as content developers and faculty.
License the curriculum to community colleges and vocational schools.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
5 to 7 years of experience in education program development; association experience preferred.
Knowledge of adult learning principles and program curriculum design or a Master’s degree in adult learning theory. Proven ability to deliver industry-related live content.
Financial tracking and budget development experience.
Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS); system support experience, a plus.
Solid computer/technical experience and knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, database management, e-learning tools such as learning management systems and web seminar delivery tools).
Experience licensing a curriculum and/or intellectual property is a strong plus.
