The NVFC seeks an entry-level, full-time Membership Coordinator. This position is located in our national office located in Greenbelt, Maryland and will assist in NVFC’s membership functions including corresponding with members and answering membership inquiries, assisting with monthly dues renewals and processing/mailing membership cards, entering membership data and maintaining accurate records, compiling reports, assisting with membership outreach and marketing, drafting correspondence and other outreach materials, and other duties as assigned.
Attention to detail with excellent writing and verbal communications skills are a must along with an ability to work well in a small staff, team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, a desire to grow and learn, and take ownership over their assigned project areas. Experience with Salesforce preferred and fire service experience is a plus. Bachelor's degree; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Maintain a thorough understanding of all membership categories, benefits, and initiatives and communicate them effectively to prospects and new members
Answer member calls and respond to membership inquiries promptly and accurately
Assist Membership Manager in member processes such as dues renewals, entering/updating member data, maintaining accurate database records, processing membership cards and mailings, and compiling membership reports
Drafts forms, letters and other membership materials and maintains files as appropriate or directed and in accordance with NVFC policies
Draft and delivers membership presentations to attract new members and cultivate existing relationships. May represent the organization at speaking engagements, tradeshows and meetings
Recommend and draft content for NVFC and industry publications relevant to membership benefits.
Drafts promotional material to send to prospective and current members and contributes content for web sites, newsletters, and social media
Assist with other projects and activities as necessary
Other duties as assigned
Experience with Salesforce, MemberNation, and/or Constant Contact preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and other productivity tools
Excellent customer service-ethic and responsiveness
Excellent oral and verbal communication skills and able to present information persuasively and concisely to different audiences
Understanding of association membership, strategic planning, market research, marketing and communication, product development, and decision-making skills
Highly organized with the ability to learn quickly, prioritize and manage multiple projects with high attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure, determine priorities, and produce results
Demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the needs of target audiences and member segments
Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently, a self-initiator, versatile, and motivated
