The American Bakers Association, the advocate for the $102 billion grain based food industry, has an opportunity for an organized, motivated, team player as our new Membership Engagement Coordinator.
The Coordinator plays an integral role in attracting, retaining and engaging current members and prospect members. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Membership to execute the organization’s membership engagement strategy and will be directly responsible for the management of all data and processes related to membership services, engagement and retention, as well as the recruitment of new members.
Under the guidance of the Director of Membership, the Coordinator is responsible for management of all membership data, tracking and reporting, including but not limited to:
Managing all aspects of the database, including updating and maintaining membership records and committee lists;
Prepare mailing and email distribution lists for membership and marketing campaigns
Managing recruitment and retention tracking and reports;
Collecting and analyzing current, new and potential member information;
Assist members with day to day needs, including facilitating member benefit usage;
Collaborate across departments to promote membership;
Maintain updated membership marketing kits and materials;
Assist in planning, executing and following up with annual membership
The Coordinator will assist the Membership Director in welcoming new members and facilitating all aspects of the onboarding and member orientation process. The Coordinator will collaborate on communications to members on matters of general importance as well as assist in developing and organizing programs and initiatives designed to attract new members
The Coordinator will support the Director of Membership in developing strong levels of measurable member engagement and retention by growing outstanding relationships with members, identifying their needs and challenges and articulating how ABA resources and services provide tools and information to address those challenges. The Coordinator will provide online demonstrations of ABA resources to members upon request.
The Coordinator will support the Director of Membership in identifying and sharing opportunities to serve members by connecting them with key ABA staff members in order to ensure ABA offerings are aligned with the needs of the members.
The Coordinator will also support the Director of Events and Education with the operations and logistics of all member engagement events, including the Annual Convention, Technical Conference, ABA Committee events, and other events/programs.
The Coordinator would interface with the Education Team to analyze enrollees in the ABA Cookie Cracker Academy (CAA) and convert those enrollees into registrations for various ABA events. The Coordinator would be knowledgeable about all events to promote participation in ABA Committees and events while carrying out membership duties.
Assist with the logistics of member engagement events, including but not limited to, securing reservations and ordering meals when necessary, recruitment and communications with speakers and presenters, venue details, program logistics, registration site creation and messaging, housing and registration reconciliation, on-site registration and event satisfaction surveys.
This position is salaried, commensurate with experience.

2 years’ experience in a membership or constituent management position preferred
Exceptional organizational and systems building skills and attention to detail
Experience with database management, YourMembership and iMIS a plus
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required – exceptional Excel skills a must
Experience with Google Office Suite and GoTo Meeting webinar software a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of customer service
Event operations and logistics experience
Willing to execute day to day tasks and work independently
Good entrepreneurial work ethic and a desire to “get the job done”
Have a positive interest in all aspects of ABA to provide excellent service to the members and staff team members
Team worker able to work and coordinate effectively with other staff members on ABA meetings, projects and objectives to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively
