The Membership Sales Representative is responsible for working across all NPA staff to understand the value proposition to NPA members and use that understanding in selling memberships and the development and implementation of membership recruitment/retention strategies and campaigns. Achieves maximum membership sales profitability, growth and account penetration within a market segment by effectively selling the company’s products and/or related services. Personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current members and prospective members across market segments to generate new membership sales and business for the organization’s products/services. • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits and sales presentations to existing and prospective customers. • Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential. • Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints. • Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups • Analyzes the market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective members’ value to the organization with Senior Management. • Creates and manages a customer value plan for existing members highlighting profile, share and value opportunities. • Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products/services. • Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the segment. • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, trends, internal data, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services. • Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas. • Represent NPA and sell memberships at industry trade shows and events • Participates in development and implementation of membership retention and recruitment programs growth and marketing of the membership base and report regularly to senior management • Achieve and surpass budgeted revenue goals for membership sales and services
SKILLS AND TRAITS: • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for members and potential members (consultative sales approach). • Ability to prospect/cold-call new businesses. • Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially internal briefings and reporting functions. • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact/lead management software. • Valid Drivers License • Nonprofit or trade association experience preferred
