The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) seeks a highly motivated professional to direct its membership efforts and carry out its primary goals of increased membership, retention, and member satisfaction. The Director of Membership position will be based in the Springfield headquarters of the ISBA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop annual comprehensive membership recruitment/engagement/retention plan, which includes stated goals, specific projects, required staff time and resources, and corresponding budget.
Direct implementation of membership recruitment/engagement/retention plans.
Perform or oversee the design, writing and printing/e-delivery of all recruitment and retention promotional materials and activities.
Track, report and analyze membership-related statistics, including monitoring, analyzing and reporting results for all membership recruitment/retention efforts using modern analytics-based methods.
Take the lead in maintaining and mining membership data, and work closely with the IT Department and Department of Administrative Services in that effort.
Oversee and manage relationships with member services-related vendor partners (i.e., Member Marketplace vendors).
Directly supervise the Member Service Coordinator.
Directly supervise membership concierges (once they are hired and in place).
Serve on management committees and participate in related projects (e.g., strategic planning subcommittees, communications group, ILN editorial team, member benefit enhancement projects, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Strong oral and written (including copywriting) communication skills
Excellent work ethic
Excellent organizational skills—must be able to manage multiple projects at once
Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Significant experience with data analytics
Significant experience with membership database platforms
A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or marketing (MBA a plus), and five or more years of association management or equivalent experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Perform in-office work, which is primarily sedentary in nature. Other than the ability to occasionally travel on ISBA business, no special physical demands are required.
