The Florida Swimming Pool Association seeks a Public Relations & Event Coordinator. Coordinator directs public relations efforts for the association and is responsible for the management and execution of digital presence including the organization’s web sites, e-newsletters and social media accounts. Responsible for coordination of quarterly board of directors meetings, annual high school swim meet, continuing education sessions, assistance with annual trade show and other association meetings and events.
Experience writing and pitching media releases and tracking media coverage. Working knowledge and real world experience in planning, managing and executing social media initiatives. Technical skills include proficiency with WordPress, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite. Proficiency in all aspects of copyediting, proofreading, and basic rules of grammar and style. Ability to manage multiple projects in an organized, timely manner and must be extremely detail-orientated. This person must develop a solid understanding of the industry and demonstrate ability to recruit volunteers and foster relationships as well as solicit sponsorships for events. Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Candidate must possess the ability to coordinate projects from development to implementation. Requires strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Other skills include budgetary management, vendor selection and negotiation. Overnight travel, early morning, holiday, evening or weekend hours may be required.
