The Senior Web Developer’s role is to create, maintain, support, and upgrade existing web applications. This includes documenting requirements and scope, configuring and writing application code for the Sitecore CMS, performing testing, and implementing solutions.
This position provides advanced-level applications/programming expertise for complex web development projects. All project life cycle steps will be utilized: working with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify functional objectives; outlining steps required for program development; writing documentation; and providing technical guidance and project management to other programmers and/or vendor resources.
This position applies a comprehensive knowledge of programming techniques and the capabilities of enterprise database products and development suites.
There is a primary focus on developing applications for AACC’s web properties, as well as collaboratively working with other departments for integrations with our other internal systems (the Aptify AMS and others). The Senior Web Developer will work with the Director, Digital Systems and UX to develop project priorities and manage budgets and vendors.
This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide web development projects on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical web applications as well as day-to-day web maintenance.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design & Programming
Perform the development of new web applications and/or enhancements to existing web applications throughout the enterprise.
Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development of web efforts.
Ensure any new web applications integrating into the Association’s systems meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
Collaborate with internal analysts, designers, programmers, and other stakeholders in the testing of new web applications.
Partner with applications development team on performing code deployments, including merging code into appropriate development branches and maintaining code in shared repositories.
2. Project Management
Manage and provide direction for web-related application development projects in support of business operations.
Provide technical leadership to projects when working on collaborative development project teams.
Liaise with applications development and support team, and other technical staff to assist with quality assurance, program logic, data integrations, and deployments.
Develop, cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
Where necessary, prepare, establish, and monitor budgets.
Lead pre-testing phase of development by evaluating proposals in order to identify potential problem areas and make appropriate recommendations.
Ensure that development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requests, and integrate with existing systems.
Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
Minimum BA/BS Computer related degree.
Sitecore certification required.
