The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Manager, Public Policy Events & Projects to join the Washington, DC Public Policy Team.
The Manager of Public Policy Events & Projects (MPEP) will work closely with AFSP’s Director of State Policy & Grassroots Advocacy to manage the planning and execution of the organization’s annual Advocacy Forum (Hill Day/Fly-In), Congressional briefings, and other DC-based public policy events. The MPEP will also manage collaborative projects and events between the Public Policy Team and other departments within the organization, oversee all event-related travel, and assist AFSP chapter volunteers in the planning and execution of 35-50 state capitol day events each year.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in meeting management, plus 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably with a nonprofit organization. Event/meeting planning and or project management certification preferred. Knowledge of meeting industry terminology and meeting planning process is a must. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to arrange and coordinate travel for groups of all sizes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required; proficiency in Google Drive preferred.
